September 5, 2018 online meeting minutes
present: Sergey Boyarinov, Graham, Chris, vpk, Eugene, Rafo, Andrey, Stepan, Ben, Ed, Hai
- no beam projected for at least 1 week and maybe more
- FADC packing: Sergey fixed C converter to accept 'n' and 'm' for parentheses and single characters, evio2xml4.0 works, information passed to Carl and Gagik to be implemented in JAVA
- DC: Raffaella and Veronique are working on DC road dictionary generation and offline validation, switched from scanning to random generation of the initial track parameters, will discuss it more closely when results are available
- DC: Rafo sent a list of events with missing tracks which exist in dictionary, Ben will take evio file and run through 'allldec' simulation, it simulates all 3 stages
- DC: C++ simulation for DC stage 1 also can be implemented, mostly not to check firmware (which is done by alldec) but to speedup trigger studies and validation; in addition to that, another algorithms can be implemented and tested (for example lookup table instead of if-else and 4GB memory on VTP board canoe used to store it); also, timing information (with 32ns resolution) is available in VTPs and can be used to implement timing-based-like segment finding, that approach can be tested inside C++ simulation as well (better segments definition can be also useful for offline pattern recognition); Andrea expressed an interest to work on this project, will meet with Sergey to evaluate existing code and discuss future development
- runs can be started from Prestart now, tiSyncReset was added before userSyncReset to cleanup FIFO and event counter, will discuss with Bryan Moffit what the best way to issue sync reset
- FADC and DSC2 scalers now reported over IPC after Sergey implemented it into DiagGuiServer, can be used as alternative to tcpserver if EPICS still have a problems receiving those scalers as it was observed during last run; format of those messages is exactly the same as it was for tcpscalers (17 and 72 words respectively) and can be changed if necessary
- new RF board is fabricated and will eb tested by Ed; if ready in a week can be used in this run
