September 5, 2007 online meeting minutes

We discussed long- and short-term jobs we'd like to complete.

Long-term projects:

1. CLAS12 trigger and DAQ systems detailed design which should be ready by next summer, Sergey B. will work with Fast Electronics Group to prepare that.

2. Trigger system for DVCS calorimeter. We purchased and installed pretrigger discriminators and v1495 trigger board, and started to work with Altera tools required to program v1495 board. In ideal case we want that board to look for 3x3 clusters in calorimeter. Roman Pomatsalyuk works with v1495 for Hall A. That project can be good start for CLAS12 trigger development, we may run it in few following month, although it should be ready by the end of next summer.

3. If we have a time, CLAS (not CLAS12 !) monitoring improvement still our goal. As it was discussed before we want to have EPICS CA-based information available from all low-level devices and from online data monitoring, before we can think about logic diagrams for state machines or whatever will be used to process them. Several old HV systems, CAMAC systems and online data analysis still to be presented as CA-based information.

Short-term projects:

1. PCAL (preshower calorimeter) test setup upgrade in EEL building. Must be completed ASAP. In addition to existing equipment it includes TDC board, CAMAC crate with discriminators, HV SY1527 system and corresponding wiring for calorimeter prototype and trigger counters. Nerses and Sergey P. will do most job.

2. CLAS12 price estimates for September 10 review - Sergey B.

3. CLON cluster operating systems patching and upgrades on Computer Center's request - Sergey B.

4. All existing CAEN v1190/v1290 boards hardware and firmware upgrade - Fast Electronics Group, Sergey B.

5. DAQ part for the new CLAS TOF channels (back plane separated counters, 108 new channels) - Sergey P., Sergey B.

6. Purchase TIBCO license extension for SmartSockets - transfer responsibility from Elliott to Sergey B.

7. Continue to work on CLAS electronics equipment list - Sergey P.

8. Yuri's test setup upgrade: new Solaris for wolfram, new CODA scripts - Sergey B., Sergey P.

9. Beamline devices HV system: based on new CAEN SY1527 mainframes, almost completed, softioc will be run on clonpc2, more efforts required to make whole procedure more robust (during last run gamm profiler's softioc need to be restarted several times, reason unknown) - Nerses
