1. Sergey Pozdnyakov's contract with Hall B was terminated by physics division management. It will effect installation plans because Sergey was working on hardware installation and testing, as well as inventory. Following corrections are made to our work plans to deal with that problem:

  • all DAQ-related hardware installation in the Hall B is postponed
  • Sergey B. will continue to work on test setups supporting currently constructed detectors (SVT, FTOF, calorimeters, cherenkov, Drift Chambers, CTOF)
  • DAQ installation will be resumed for the periods of time when detector groups will provide manpower; following schedule is expected:

EC - September (DAQ+CAEN HV)

PCAL - December (DAQ+CAEN HV)

FTOF - January (DAQ+CAEN HV)

DC HV - after previous are finished

the rest of detectors cannot be installed before magnets arrives, so corresponding DAQ electronics installation will wait

  • new test setup in EEL is needed in PCAL area for student summer work: VXS crate with FADCs, NIM crate: will try to finish next week
  • 20-21 May will be a meeting about FTOF panel 1B plans
  • keep in mind that HPS may come in fall 2014

On good side, we have new visitor from Chile (Valery Sytnik), he will be here during 6 month working on slow control; following issues will be addressed as part of his activity:

  • EPICS base installation (with help from Hall D)
  • MPOD and CAEN HV EPICS support (with help from Hall D)
  • other drivers if time permits

So far Valery installed R3.14.12.3; compiled old CAEN HV 1527 successfully after number of modifications, work in progress. We'll discuss SVN setting and EPICS tree structure in Hall B using Hall D setup as example. In general two areas exist in Hall D

  base/
  extensions/
  support/
  app/
  drivers/

We do something similar, probably placing first area in /apps/
