BONUS RTPC DAQ
BONUS DAQ was discussed. We'll consider fiber optic controller instead of USB one, new receiving card will be in PCI-X format. We need to buy electronics from TPC group and ALICE DAQ group. PCI card will come with Linux driver, we need to provide optical signals (trigger etc) and probably slow control over Ethernet.
We have one more USB option now: David Abbot is testing new Intel-based VME controller with USB port; if FC is not available, we can try to use old USB readout, but firmware must be fixed, it is in progress at CERN (U2F).
TI card in PCI format is under development in Fast Electronics group, Sergey will ask status occationally.
We need to know how fast PCI-based fiber optic readut can run, cannot say in advance. We'll buy minimum set necessary to measure readout speed, Stephen will find out about purchases. We may talk to CERN people about software.
Preliminary schedule for testing: May 2008.
g9a status
- Moller problem was fixed, MCC fixed their signals. We need better RF monitoring (9 Hz vs 15Hz etc), need data monitoring (non-standard intervals, missing pulses etc).
- even after MCC fixes RF signal was not good, one channel was bad at RF board, another channel was noisy because of discriminator problem. RF board was fixed, second signal was plugged to another discriminator's channel, will fix translation table, then replace discriminator later.
- L2 works, no bad segment collectors observed so far
Projects
- 8 fastbus power supplies arrived from WIENER; Chris's group will make necessary cables and install it during next big downtime, most likely February-March
- new 'clonmon' machine was installed, it has apache server opened from outside of jlab. First version of the new component 'root_server' was created and is running in test mode creating root files. Those files has the same set of histograms as fast online reconstruction and can be viewed by Carrot apache module.
- new clon10 machine was installed, old clon10 was renamed to clon00n and will be decommission or moved to ELL to serve as test setups server
- PCAL prototype: move device in a week to the Hall, will connect using DVCS cables, need 16ch scaler and trigger from PS
- CLAS12 trigger: EC cluster finder in progress
- inventory DB: need convenient frontend
