The MVME5100 series is the flagship of the Motorola PowerPlus II VME Architecture line, enabling supercomputing levels of performance in a single VMEbus slot. it is offered in two temperature grades: commercial — with operating temperatures of 0 to 55°C and extended — with operating temperatures of -20 to 71°C.
The MVME5100 series provides customers with a high-performance building block application solution in defense-aerospace, industrial automation, telecommunications and medical applications. The MVME5100 features a MPC750 450MHz microprocessor with up to 1MB of backside L2 cache, and hosts dual PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) sites and up to 1GB of ECC protected Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory (SDRAM). Additional features of the MVME5100 family include dual Ethernet ports, dual serial ports and up to 16MB of Flash.
The MVME5100 products have two P2 I/O modes — PMC mode and MVME761 mode. In PMC mode, it is fully backwards compatible with previous generation dual PMC products, the MVME2300 and MVME2400. In MVME761 or MVME712 mode, the MVME5100 product family is backwards compatible with Motorola's MVME761 / MVME712 transition boards originated for use with previous generation single-board computer products, the MVME2600 and MVME2700.
