The FASTBUS standard played an important role as the frontend readout bus for one generation of experiments. As most of the elecronics used by the experiments tends to be fairly long lived, it may be an issue for upcoming experiments to utilise the existing FASTBUS frontend infrastructure and to interface it to an up to date event building structure in VME, PCI or cPCI. The SIS4100 NGF VME to FASTBUS interface in connection with a VME CPU or the SIS PCI to VME interface is the board of the choice for such setups.
