KineticSystems 1502/10/25/72 Powered CAMAC Crates

INTRODUCTION TO CAMAC

CAMAC, an acronym for Computer Automated Measurement And Control, is an IEEE-standard (583), modular, high-performance, realtime data acquisition and control system concept.

Since 1969, CAMAC has been used in many thousands of scientific, industrial, aerospace, and defense test systems around the world.

CAMAC is a non-proprietary, open-architecture concept providing:

The CAMAC standard allows a wide range of modular instruments to be interfaced to a standardized backplane, called a DATAWAY, to create high performance data acquisition and control systems. The modular concept permits computer interaction with virtually any type of sensor, transducer, or final control element. Also available is a standardized data acquisition Serial Highway that operates at transmission rates up to 50 Mbit/s over distances to 3 kilometers between remote locations.

ABOUT 1502/72

This series of powered CAMAC crates fully complies with CAMAC specification IEEE-583. Crates include the CAMAC Dataway with an 86-contact PC edge connector a each station. All units include one or more self-contained blowers as well as a power supply which converts the ac source to the mandatory DC CAMAC Dataway voltages (+/-6 V and +/-24 V) and also provide the optional +/-12 V outputs.
