129.57.82.121:

To login as root:

ssh root@clondb1
mysql -u root -p

To dump one database or several databases:

??mysqldump --opt db_name > /usr/local/clas/mysql_dump/backup-file.sql
mysqldump --databases db_name1 [db_name2 ...] -u root -p > /usr/local/clas/mysql_dump/my_databases.sql

(always do it as a 'root' so you have sufficient privileges, otherwise it may dump not everything and you will never know !).

To restore one database:

mysql -u root -p db_name < /usr/local/clas/mysql_dump/backup-file.sql

To restore all databases ('USE <db_name>' statement must be in the file):

mysql -u root -p < /usr/local/clas/mysql_dump/backup-file.sql

To copy database from one server to another:

mysqldump --opt db_name | mysql --host=remote_host -C db_name

To dump all databases:

mysqldump --all-databases > /usr/local/clas/mysql_dump/all_databases.sql

NOTE: there is a script '/database/dumpdb' (obtained from Bryan Hess and adjusted) which is running from cron job,
it is dumping all databases from clondb1 to /mysql/clondb1_dump/ directory on fileserver. See usage inside the script.

To dump binary log file contents (example):

mysqlbinlog clondb1-bin.000360

To create new database (example):

mysql> create database clasdb;

To delete database (example):

mysql> drop database clasdb;

To creating new table (example):

create table clonalarm(
alarm_id integer not null,
alarm_status integer default NULL,
alarm_time date default NULL,
system char(20) default NULL,
alarm_text varchar(120) default NULL,
help_id integer default NULL
)\g

To import data from ASCII file into existing table use 'mysqlimport' (example):

mysqlimport -u root -p clasprod ./clonalarm.txt

where 'clasprod' is database name and 'clonalarm.txt' is file in /database directory.
File name must coinside with table name !

To autorize 'clasrun' access from clon10.jlab.org to 'clas_online' database do following:

mysql> GRANT SELECT,INSERT,UPDATE,DELETE,CREATE,DROP,LOCK TABLES ON clas_online.* TO clasrun@clon10.jlab.org;
mysql> flush privileges;

Other example:

mysql> grant all on clas_online.* to clasrun@clon10.jlab.org identified by 'your_mysql_user_password';
mysql> flush privileges;

To grant all privileges, including 'grant' privilege, to 'root' do following:

mysql> grant all on *.* to root@clonweb.jlab.org identified by '********' with grant option;
mysql> flush privileges;

To revoke access, do following:

revoke all on clas_online.* from clasrun@clon10.jlab.org;
mysql> flush privileges;

For example if 'clasrun' want to assess 'test' database on 'clondb1' from remote host, it should use following commands:

mysql -h clondb1 -u clasrun
mysql> use clasprod;
mysql> show tables;
mysql> describe clonalarm;
mysql> select * from clonalarm;
mysql> quit

For example if 'clasrun' want to modify 'clasprod' database on 'clondb1' from remote host and change field 'configuration' in table 'run_log_begin', it should use following commands:

mysql -h clondb1 -u clasrun
mysql> use clasprod;
mysql> UPDATE run_log_begin SET configuration''PROD' WHERE run=xxxxx;
mysql> quit

for some reason it efefcts mostly PMCs. First 10 or so PMCs booted fine, and then few shows that error, and few following booted fine again, and so on. It looks like DB does not respond right the way, and PMC exits on timeout and do not try again. Should fix that place.
* Sergey B. 12-may-2009: looking for the reason of missing gate messages in all DC crates we found that front end busy cable from SF to FC was disconnected on the floor. For the future we should remember that disconnecting that cable may create missing gate messages. It is also important before every run to use 'dc_all' configuration and look at scope in the counting house to make sure front end busy signal is there.
#configuration for gamin
# notify filepath(s) : indicate to use kernel notification
# fsset fsname method poll_limit : indicate what method of notification for the filesystem
# kernel - use the kernel for notification
# poll - use polling for notification
#
# the poll_limit is the number of seconds

FIX: it seems there is a bug in 1190/1290-related rols and library: NBOARDS set to 21 and several arrays allocated with that length, but actual board maximum number is 21; NBOARDS was set to 22 everywhere, will test next time
for some reason it efefcts mostly PMCs. First 10 or so PMCs booted fine, and then few shows that error, and few following booted fine again, and so on. It looks like DB does not respond right the way, and PMC exits on timeout and do not try again. Should fix that place.
and it waits here. After restarting server on clondb1 by commands
everything came back to normal. We should think about detecting that problem and restarting server automatically, also it happens very rearly, few time a year. Probably it can be done by monitoring cpu usage: when server was hung it was using 100% of cpu:
Note: sc2 never warn about wrong slot number before that moment.

/etc/init.d/smartsockets stop
/etc/init.d/smartsockets start
everything came back to normal. We should think about detecting that problem and restarting server automatically, also it happens very rearly, few time a year. Probably it can be done by monitoring cpu usage: when server was hung it was using 100% of cpu:
while normally it uses fractions of percent. It is also will be useful to monitor cpu usage in general, few days ago clasrun's sshd on clon10 was taking almost 50% of cpu.
Note: sc2 never warn about wrong slot number before that moment.

FIX: it seems there is a bug in 1190/1290-related rols and library: NBOARDS set to 21 and several arrays allocated with that length, but actual board maximum number is 21; NBOARDS was set to 22 everywhere, will test next time
The reason for epics alarms missing must be understood and fixed.

One A1535 board was modified by Armen in according to CAEN instructions, it should take care of 'full crate' problem (goal is to use internal board's clock instead of external one). Board will be tested and then remaining boards will be modified, and test with 16-slot hvec1 will be conducted during downtime.

We had short meeting with CAEN people and discussed on-site repairs and calibrations. CAEN will provide us with quotes for single channel units, calibration board and repair instructions.

'''2. DAQ crashes''': after recent modifications by Sergey B. DAQ crashes changed, now in most cases roc_reboot does not required, cancel-reset-download sequence is usually enough to restart. However new problems shows up, in particular sometimes during prestart EB reports missing link with some ROC while ROC claims that link was established, must be investigated. Most ROCs runs stable for weeks, while sc2 for example crashed quite often. Sergey is watching trying to find fixes.

It was also found that after running for the long time without reboot (weeks) ROCs started to failed one after another (DCs for example), 'preventive' reboot procedure was implemented, we are rebooting all ROCs at least once a week during downtime.

To improve general performance ''clondaq1-daq1'' and ''clondaq2-daq1'' were moved to 10GBit network cards, and ''clondb1-daq1'' interface was added to ''clondb1'' server (all 68 subnets).
PMCs were configured to talk to mysql on ''clondb1'' through ''clondb1-daq1''. Soft must be fixed so ROCs try again if database does not respond.
'''4. SILO problems''': the moving-to-silo process was stuck yesterday night, CC switched to another staging file server (sfs59) and it works now, still unclear what happened with old staging file server (sfs56). Need to know what the max pulse amplitude it can handle, and improve small pulses (about 10mV) handling. Maximum output pulse width on timing output will be decreased to 25ns.

'''CLAS12 Trigger''': we discussed shortly MUX boards redesign, it should produce long/shord pulses with digital width (4ns jitter), and be able to mask out bad channels.

present: Sergey Boyarinov, Sergey Pozdnyakov

Current eg1dvcs run status was discussed:

- DAQ rate is about 6-7kHz and data rate 30-35MB/sec, livetime >85%

- recent changes in CLAS CODA helped to speedup crashes recovery, some issues still remains

- CAEN SY1527 HV status: 3 glued patch panels tests goes good, one panel is installed already in hvec2; 2 bad channels were discovered in 2 boards; CAEN said that we can move single channel mezzanine card from board to board, but calibration must be performed after that, will ask CAEN if it can be done at JLAB; problem with 16 boards in hvec1 still exist (board in slo 16 trippes after a while), 15 boards works but 16 does not, will report to CAEN, may try to reproduce in test setup

- EC sec5 HV problems were observed, still unclear what exactly happened, we are watching, can be Lecroy mainframe or board(s) or IOC

- roc_reboot set for DC1-DC4 and DC7-DC10, works fine

- ungated str7201 scaler was replaced in polar (bit 14 stuck sometimes), 1881 was replaced in DC11 (corrupted data on high rate about 10kHz), will go to repair

- new network equipment install: 10GBit cards in clondaq1 and clondaq2 (4Gbit/s saturates one core), 10GBits tranceivers in BigIron, still waiting for 1GBit tranceivers to finish the project

- new SILO is in use, so far so good; may think about coping with extension '.part' and rename when coping is done

- 'run_log_polar' table in clasprod database was restored from clasdb1, data from the first part of eg1dvcs was restored from ascii file written by pol target operators; currently it is updates automatically

- 'run_log_end' etc recovery procedure still under development; may run by cron job
